Josephine is 64 years old, married, and a mother of one son. Josephine runs a fruit and vegetable stall in Mwakingali, Kenya and her business has been in operation for the last seven years. Her business has been doing well. With this loan from Impulse, she plans to expand her business by purchasing tomatoes, potatoes, oranges, avocados onions, cabbage and garlic. The anticipated profits will be used to repay the loan and provide for her upkeep.

Delphine
Expanding a food shop in Rwanda


Delphine is 29 years old. She is married to a driver and they are blessed with four children; the oldest is 12 and the youngest is 6.

Delphine sells food such as sweet potatoes, beans, cassava, yams and onions. She has been doing this business for six years and she wants to expand her business by opening up a wholesale beans shop.

She is able to send all her children to school and she will be using the profit of her business to pay the school fees of her children. Her desire is to have her business building in a good business location. Delphine is being supported with a loan in order to buy more foodstuff such as beans.

Justice Kigen
Dairy Cows In Kenya


Justice, a dairy farmer from Litein town in Rift Valley, Kenya, has been farming for the last two years. His farm produces milk and pineapples which he sells locally. He also earns income from the sale of paraffin in the same location.

Justice, 21 years old and single and is being supported to purchase and insure a dairy cow. The income from this loan will help him meet his basic needs and expand his farming activities. His biggest challenges are diseases which affect his production. In the future, he would like to purchase at least 2.5 hectares of land to plant sufficient dairy feeds.

About Juhudi Kilimo:

Juhudi Kilimo is an innovative, for-profit social enterprise working with smallholder farmers in Kenya. Juhudi directly finances dairy cows, chickens, agricultural equipment, and other assets that are specifically chosen to create immediate cash flow. Many of the assets are insured to prevent devastating business losses, and targeted technical assistance is provided to farmers, from agricultural training to basic bookkeeping and local market research. For its clients and their families, Juhudi also offers access to low-cost life insurance and medical aid.
